Sermon Notes

  • The Lord: The One Who Is and Who Causes

“I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” Exodus 3:14

  • Shepherd: The One Who Cares and Guides

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Isaiah 40:11

My Shepherd:

  • Relationship before results
  • Care before comfort
  • Presence before provision

Discussion Questions for Groups

  • The Bible describes us as sheep: dependent, easily wandering, etc. How does that description fit (or not) how you usually think about yourself?
  • Have you ever had a season in life where your faith moved from convenience to desperation?
  • What significance is there to you between referring to God as “a shepherd” versus “my shepherd”?
