Waiting Is Hard, Or Is It?

Sermon Notes

“I was pouring out my soul to the Lord… I have been praying here out of my great anguish and grief.” 1 Samuel 1:15-16

  • Hope without a pursuing knowledge of the Lord is only a wish.
  • “Waiting on the Lord” will involve a portion of action and being still.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:7

  • It is easier to wait on an “Awesome God” than a vague perception of God.

At the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

  • Eventually, you want to be waiting on the Lord and not so much on the outcome.

Discussion Questions for Groups

  • What are some specific aspects of “waiting” that make it so difficult?
  • Scripture strongly urges waiting on the Lord (Psalm 27:13-14). When we don’t wait on the Lord, what does that suggest about us when we don’t?
