The Sanctified Life

Sermon Notes

Sanctification: God’s work of grace, renewing the Christian to more greatly reflect the image of God, by dying to sin and living for righteousness.

Mortification: dying to sin

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.” Colossians 3:5

Vivification: living for Righteousness

“(You) have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Colossians 3:10

Two Ways We Resist God’s Transformational Work:

1. We despise our struggles

2. We hide our sin.
